Executive Editor, Digital, Men's Health (Creative Design)
Hearst Magazines is looking for an enterprising executive editor to oversee the day-to-day assigning, editing, and visuals on MensHealth.com. This person will work closely with the print staff of Men's Health as well as with the site editors on all of the Hearst brands.
This position will report in to the Editor-in-Chief of Men's Health.
Responsibilities:
Staying true to the vision and point of view of Men's Health, increase the audience of MensHealth.com with a particular eye to growth in search, video, commerce, and social
Assign and create content around that vision on topics as varied as health, fitness, pop culture, sports, sex and relationships, style and grooming, and technology
Strategically plan content that reacts to news, analyzes and interprets the news, and provides relevant, thought-leading and/or service content to the Men's Health audience
Manage a team of six along with a number of freelance writers
Bring new writers, voices to the site
Oversee the budget and operations of the MensHealth.com team
Partner closely with the audience development team to understand and act upon analytics
Work with the sales teams on native content and advertising opportunities
Collaborate with other Hearst Digital Media sites (particularly Esquire, Popular Mechanics, Road + Track, and Car and Driver) on content to be shared across sites
Requirements:
At least 8 years as an editor, with substantial digital experience
Editorial background in fitness, health, sports, and/or men's interest
Strong skill as an editor, tightening and crafting copy
Experience managing a team and planning a content strategy
Good judgment as to what works to drive audience and engagement in digital media
Must be a collaborator
Excellent at producing content with digital-friendly language
Versed in using Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, other data tools
Open to experimenting with content types and persistent reinvention to create appropriate content for a digital audience
