Assistant General Superintendent, Street Operations (Project Management)

This position assists the General Superintendent in the management of the organization's street operations activities, assisting in the management of Transportation Services and the control and direction of all revenue service vehicles and support vehicles.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Develops workforce plans, recruits staff, interviews, hires, assigns work, trains, coaches, and counsels staff to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Conducts performance reviews, and holds employees accountable for optimal performance of their responsibilities.
  • Oversees the AVL/CAD computer/radio system operation.
  • Develops and implements administrative and operational policies and procedures and makes recommendations for change.
  • Supervises the coordination, preparation and update of all detours affected by special events, emergencies or disruptions in service and coordinates with police jurisdictions, Public Works and
  • Municipalities for on-street activities and detours affecting bus operations. Coordinates emergency response with offices of emergency preparedness of surrounding cities, counties and states.
  • Coordinates facility maintenance, vehicle maintenance and construction activities as they relate to on street operations.
  • Reviews and analyzes operations reports to determine problem situations and develop appropriate resolutions as in accidents, incidents, disputes and disturbances involving the organization's vehicles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in transportation, business administration or management preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of management experience, transit operations preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the proper operation of buses and associated equipment in all phases of the industry.
  • Proficiency working with CRT equipment, CAD-AVL systems and video equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually in an acceptable range.

Pay Range:

$109,309.00 - $154,398.25 Annual
