CT Section Chief (Full Time, Day shift) (Healthcare)
Job Summary: Oversees the operations of the CT department, equipment, and personnel and is receptive of patients' needs while maintaining open communication with the staff to resolve any conflicts which may arise. Utilizes Computerized Tomography Scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues. Follows and guides the staff to follow all Radiation Safety and ALARA policies as well as state and federal regulations to ensure low-dose CT Imaging is an integral part of practice. Minimum Job Requirements:
Florida General Radiography Technology License - active and in good standing throughout employment
Minimum 5 year experience as a Lead CT Technologist in an acute care pediatric hospital setting
Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) and Certification in CT -active and in good standing throughout employment
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Utilizes dose reduction technology and monitoring to optimize patient dose. Sends to the Dose Monitoring system once the scan is complete.
Participates in Imaging Safety Committee and is responsible for the CT Dose Monitoring Reporting.
Responsible for continuous monitoring of CT Dose alerts.
Supervises staff and provides technical direction. Orients, trains, and evaluates Technologists regarding department policies and procedures.
Responsible for the Service Excellence Index (SEI) for patients and families and implements strategies to increase SEI.
Complies with all standards for safety, risk management, and infection control as required by enforcement agencies.
Coordinates scheduling, transporting and scanning of patients to maximize utilization of CT scanners.
Edits Kronos transactions in a timely manner and within established guidelines, as demonstrated with minimal edits by payroll department.
Coordinates the staffing scheduling and flow of operations to ensure business operations and budget needs are met.
Assists with ordering supplies, monitors inventory, maintains cleanliness of the equipment, and scan room.
Conducts rounding to optimize workflow and improve the patient and family experience.
Updates leadership on monthly budget expenses. Looks for opportunities to be cost effective.
Accountable for all QC for department to optimize operations and patient flow and safety.
Participates in Lean committee, DNV readiness for imaging, and Imaging Operations staff meetings. Organizes and participates in conferences, technical meeting, and other education activities.
Ensures adherence to all state and federal regulatory requirements, maintains survey readiness, and radiation safety practices.
Follows hospital patient-identification policy prior to performing examination. Utilizes two patient identifiers prior to initiating any procedure.
Makes recommendations regarding hiring, training, evaluating, promotion and disciplinary actions for employees. Conducts performance reviews in timely manner.
Explains the examination and procedures to patients and parents. Checks history and previous imaging history with designated Radiologist.
Responsible for the "On Call" and daily schedule. Ensures adequate PTO coverage for area.
Responsible for maintaining protocol manual.
Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to Leader and Clinical Engineering.
Assists the Director in preparing the annual departmental capital and operational budget requests for machines needed in the CT Department.
Communicates effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary team; shares information within timelines to aid top outcomes for patients and families. Participates in departmental huddle.
Prepares monthly reports for Diagnostic CT scan statistics including: Operates Expense/UOS and Total Man Hours/ UOS.

Maintains accountability by ensuring compliance thru timely completion of licensures, certifications, all competencies, health requirements (PPD, N95, Flu, etc.), and education requirements.

Ensures behavior meets and/or exceeds targeted service scores as measured by the Service Index and/or the internal departmental service survey.
