Job Overview:
The Senior Accountant leads the monthly accounting close and financial analysis for multiple Ascend business units. This role ensures the preparation of accurate and timely financial results by partnering with the financial planning and analysis team as well as operating teams to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial information.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Perform the month-end close duties for multiple business units, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, expense accruals, financial statement analytics, and month-end reporting packages
• Analyze, research, and document monthly profit and loss variances to budget and lead the monthly review meetings with accounting and finance leadership for multiple business units
• Partner with the financial planning and analysis team and business operations leadership for financial analysis and to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
• Perform technical accounting research when necessary
• Review, evaluate, and assist with the implementation and/or improvement of internal controls
• Support the external audit through the preparation, review, and delivery of requested schedules
• Assist in the documentation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and processes
• Assist with the integration of acquired businesses as necessary
• Respond to ad hoc data or reporting requests
• Support special projects as needed
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's preferred; CPA required
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience is preferred
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with Great Plains and Management Reporter is preferred
