Senior Toxicologist - USA (Finance)

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Toxicologist to join our Personal Care business at our Bridgewater, NJ site. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Global Regulatory function. This position will report to the Senior Principal Toxicologist

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing toxicology support for industrial, consumer, specialty chemicals, and pharmaceutical excipients to meet marketing timeline.
  • Identification of safety issues concerning human and/or the environment and recommend solutions for mitigating risk regarding the commercialization of new innovative products.
  • Directing specific toxicology projects pertaining to new products development.
  • Conducting toxicology review and safety assessment to establish or confirm safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Writing detailed reports on toxicological assessments and findings.
  • Developing, contracting, and monitoring toxicology testing programs in support of business programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting toxicology review and assessment to address customers' and regulatory authorities' requests and concerns.
  • Providing expert support to testing lab operation, occupational and environmental toxicology, and chemical product regulatory filing.
  • Participating in chemical consortia and trade associations.
  • Staying up to date on the latest scientific literature and regulatory guidelines that covers the scope of toxicology and risk assessment.
  • Assisting in the setup of occupational exposure limits and other workplace safety standards for hazardous substances.
  • Making use of advanced statistical and computational techniques to model dose-response relationships and characterize the uncertainty in toxicological risk assessments

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • PhD or MS in Toxicology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years (PhD) or 5 years (MS) of experience as a Toxicologist
  • Experience with chemical regulatory compliance processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and with global teams
  • Well organized with attention to detail and concern for quality and accuracy
