Software Engineer in Test (Information Technology)

As Software Test Engineer, you will participate in an Agile team to deliver quality products and develop and maintain micro-services that provide the foundation for the platform's underlying core capabilities and features. In this role, you will participate in the breakdown of large/complex problems and in designing and implementing solutions. You will also work with the latest technologies, tools, and techniques and will prepare and deliver presentations and demos as part of the Agile lifecycle. You will collaborate in setting standards, defining best practices for coding, designing and testing and will participate in code reviews.
The Candidate:
The candidate will be responsible for building, testing, configuring and deploying code in complex environments. The candidate should have light experience with test automation technologies like Postman, Locust, Gatling, or JMeter, as well as in test driven and behavioral driven development. The candidate should be knowledgeable in developing and consuming RESTful web services and in domain driven design and service-oriented architecture. The candidate will have experience capturing test requirements, documenting test cases, building test plans using automated tools like Cucumber, Appium, and/or Selenium, as well as building and testing applications as part of a continuous delivery lifecycle. The candidate should have working knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Ruby, or Groovy with software development in large-scale, cloud environments and should be familiar with developing single-page JavaScript applications and frameworks such as React, Redux, or Angular. The candidate should have experience working with configuration management systems and deployment automation is desired.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience is desired, and a MS is preferred. Previous experience in the education industry and with e-learning technologies is a plus.
The Team and Office:
The team offers some remote/work from home opportunity. Blackboard has an office located in the picturesque Inner Harbor of Baltimore City. The office is 15 floors above the Harbor, with giant office windows & conference rooms overlooking the historic Federal Hill and stunning Harbor East. There is easy access to public transportation. The office has a fully stocked vending machine and features break areas with games, puzzles, and a fitness center. The office is in walking distance to many lunch or dinner locations - Shake Shack, Chipotle, and Chicken Rico to Fogo de Chao, Morton's, and Fleming's and is in walking distance to the beautiful M&T Ravens Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
