MAJOR FUNCTIONS
This is responsible administrative and supervisory work in directing all equipment repair and maintenance activities. This is an emergency essential position that requires performance of emergency duties and actions to prepare, repair, and recover the City before, during, and after any adverse storm events (hurricane, tornado, ice storm, etc.) or other conditions (natural or man-made). Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Works Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Plans, directs, and supervises the work of the equipment maintenance personnel.
Plans methods of operation, checks on progress of work, and resolves special problems.
Receives, evaluates and processes work requests from City Departments and determines priorities and methods necessary to achieve objectives.
Prepares reports on accomplishment of an equipment maintenance unit. Prepares budget for the Equipment Maintenance Division.
Evaluates employee performance. Recommends hiring, firing, employee discipline, and other personnel actions.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of modern principles, practices, and techniques of equipment management..
Knowledge of developments and sources of information in the field of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Ability to plan, schedule, and supervise the use of personnel and equipment to successfully accomplish assigned duties.
Ability to establish and maintain effective public relations.
Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Eight (8) years responsible supervisory experience in equipment maintenance operations.
Possession of a valid, Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one.
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
