Port Engineer (Engineering)
SUMMARY: Oversees the direction and coordination of marine vessel hull and machinery maintenance and repair on assigned vessels, tugs, barges and landing craft. This position is a Safety Sensitive position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years' experience as Port Engineer, Vessel Engineer or Shipyard supervisor/project manager. Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
Must be eligible to apply and be issued a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card).
Identification or passport valid for International travel required.
Currently or previously held a marine engineer USCG license or equivalent military experience aboard vessels preferred.
Must have or be able to pass Shipyard Competent Person Certificate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Job is very physical and requires the individual to be able to perform duties and work long hours at sea and in port. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be flexible and mobile to work in confined areas and able to stoop, crawl and maneuver in small confined spaces. Long hours of standing or sitting may be required.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Company's Industrial Health and Safety Manual which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection and respiratory protection. The employee needs the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate in the office to very loud in the vessel/shipyard environment.
